Based in the beautiful location of Dornoch, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, award winning picture framer Kerensa Carr uses a combination of an old world artisan craft and the latest conservation methods to bring you high quality framing.
At The Framing Room, we believe framing is something special. As Kerensa says:-“ Picture framing, should fundamentally achieve two things - to ENHANCE and PROTECT your art-work”. If you walk into a room and what you see is the frame first and the picture second, then your art-work has been protected, but not necessarily enhanced. The art-work, mount and profile should work in synergy.
We know how much our customers’ treasured family photos, art and collectables mean to them, so we offer the best materials and finest craftsmanship. Having said that … if you have a tight budget, we’re sure, from the many profile samples and current stock at hand, plus a willingness to recycle, repurpose or hand-paint old frames when needed, we’ll hopefully find you something suitable in your price range and with a very friendly and knowledgeable service you’ll not find in many towns elsewhere.
All work is carried out on site by Kerensa, a valued guild commended framer, and although presently, she is not currently affiliated with The Fine Art Trade Guild, she still follows their ethos.
We offer our customers the best advice possible on the choice of profile and mount for their pictures, we also inform as to the best way to conserve their artwork to ensure it remains in optimum condition.
If you are an artist or photographer, who would like a professional mount cut or your work framed, just give us a call and we would be glad to offer our services.
The workshop has no set opening times, as all customers can book an appointment to suit their needs. We understand that sometimes an early evening or weekend, is the only time you can get to see us and we can work with that, to find a mutually beneficial time for both parties.

Standard completion times can stretch into many weeks, depending on work load - so if you do have a tight deadline, please try not to hang on to your precious art-work for too long, just in case we aren’t able to finish it in time for you.
We look forward to hearing from you, best wishes and safe travelling …
